The Providence Bruins haven’t played hockey at the Dunkin Donuts Center since December 10th. This isn’t to say they haven’t been home in that stretch: before the Hartford and Springfield games (Dec. 22nd and 23rd respectively) the Baby B’s were practicing on Friar ice Dec. 18th before hitting the road before the Christmas Break.
In Hartford, the Bruins got two goals from Justin Hickman, who only scored two goals all of last year. However, after coasting for 19 minutes of the 3rd period, they found themselves on the losing side of the tilt. As they did in Charlotte back in November, the Bruins rebounded from an ugly loss to win their next game in Springfield to enter the Holiday break on a somewhat high note.
With presents opened, family visited, and Christmas dinner eaten, Providence is in Utica, New York, tonight. The Utica Comets were the last team the Bruins faced before going on the road. Providence edged both games in Overtime against Utica to bring their record in the season series to 2-0-0. In their past 10 games, Utica is a modest 4-3-3. Providence, despite being on an eight game road trip, is 8-2-0.
The last game on this road trip is against the 12-16-3 Belleville Senators who are 3-6-1 in their last 10. The Baby Sens seem to be following in their parent club’s cold streak. Providence is 1-0-0 on the season against Belleville, looking to make it 2-0-0 by the end of the week.
Seems like there’s no news out of the Providence regarding the injury status of Ryan Fitzgerald (LBI), Jeremy Lauzon (UBI), or Jordan Szwarz (Undisclosed). Therefore, expecting the lineups to look something like they did in Springfield on the 23rd:
Fwd 1: Beleskey-Cave-Senyshyn
Fwd 4: Hargrove-Payerl-Hickman
D2: Breen-Marshall (Yikes)
Lines are definitely subject to change. Jay Leach takes a page out of the Bruce Cassidy book of Coaching and seems to jumble his lines regularly. Hopefully some of the injured Bruins got the green light after returning from the holiday break, and we’ll be looking at a slightly different lineup.
